Vetted is a new NYC veterinary price-transparency project collecting anonymized vet bills and estimates from New York pet owners. The goal is simple: help people understand what veterinary care actually costs before they are sitting in an exam room trying to decode a bill. Vetted is a side project I work on in my free time, so any help spreading the word makes a real difference and every submitted bill helps build a public database of real prices for exams, vaccines, diagnostics, medications, emergency visits, procedures and other common costs. Vetted is happy to be shared by neighborhood newsletters, dog groups, rescue organizations, tenant groups, parent groups and anyone else trying to help New Yorkers make sense of pet care costs.A share does not need to be fancy. Even a short note asking people to submit a recent bill or estimate can help make the database more useful.
When someone submits a bill or estimate, Vetted may use details like the clinic name, general location, pet species, visit type, service category, line-item descriptions and prices.Vetted does not publish names, home addresses, phone numbers, emails, payment information or private medical records. The point is price transparency, not exposing anyone’s personal information.
