Why Vetted exists

Veterinary prices are difficult to compare. Clinics use different names for similar services, some fees are bundled and consumers often do not know what others paid until after receiving a bill.

Vetted collects and standardizes real New York City veterinary prices so pet owners can better understand the cost of care.

Vetted is a journalism project built around a simple problem: veterinary prices are difficult to compare, and pet owners are often asked to make expensive decisions without much context about what similar care costs elsewhere. I’m Bella Czajkowski, a journalist covering healthcare, business and consumer issues, and I founded Vetted to make NYC veterinary pricing more transparent and easier to understand.
